Ranthambore National Park India

Smaller only in size, the Ranthambore National Park has as rich and varied wildlife as anywhere else. It was recognized as a national park in 1980 but putting all else aside, the major attraction is definitely the tiger and they are present in significant numbers.

This is the only reserve that has seen a good rise in the number of tigers. Two rivers flow their way through the Ranthambore National Park India but the water bodies don’t end here.

There are six man made lakes and many perennial streams that dot the landscape of the park.

One version says that the place got its name from the Ranthambore Fort (it is called a heritage site because of the fort) located in the park whereas others claim it to be just opposite in Ranthambore Wildlife National Park.

However, there are two hills located nearby named Ran and Thambore and some say that the name of the place is derived from that. The Ranthambore National Park has a rugged terrain and some of the most diverse assembly of wildlife in India.
